We visited Anchorage briefly today to buy a camera to replace the one we lost at Denali. During our debriefing at the pizza place the day after Iris’ adventure, we left Mike’s smaller, back-up camera at the pizzeria. We checked back several times but no luck.
Anchorage looks interesting, and we are excited to explore it. My race is exactly a week away, and we plan to continue exploring the Wasilla/Palmer area until closer to next weekend. Then, we’ll explore Anchorage more. On the way back from Anchorage today, we stopped by a Mexican restaurant with the best Yelp reviews in the area. Hmmm…I think we may be too far from that border to get great Mexican food.
We switched campgrounds to a better one, but without all the hook-ups. While sitting outside typing this blog, I realized just how close we are to a small airport and how many small planes fly around Alaska. They fly directly overhead and not very high. No biggie. We stayed two nights in a campground immediately adjacent to train tracks in Talkneeta, and the train came by at 4:00am blowing its horn. I’m sure the planes won’t be as bad.
