At Long Last - A Vacation
We’re on our way to Jackson, WY and the Grand Tetons. We planned to visit the Grand Tetons when we saw Glacier National Park and Yellowstone in 2008. But, by the time we got to the Tetons, we were too tired and spent to do them justice so we decided to save them for another trip. 13 years later, we are returning.
Day one was a little rough. A later start than we wanted, a to-go lunch in Burns that took an hour and left us feeling like we’d hit our grease quota for the year, and a long day on the road resulted in a few snips and two tired travelers. As usual, we pushed the start of our vacation and didn’t start relaxing until the end of the first day.
We ended in Twin Falls, ID and saw that all the brew pubs were either closed or closing by the time we arrived. We found a popular place that was open - Anchor Bistro and Bar - and headed there. With frayed nerves, Mike pulled the truck and Casita into the parking lot that appeared full. Luckily, there was a pull through area of the parking lot and, with great luck, we were able to park the truck and trailer on the side of that pull through.
After a good dinner and an even better tasting beer, we made the next usual spot on our vacations - a trip to Walmart to pick up what we forgot. This time, it was pillows.
We stayed at the Jerome, ID KOA, which is nicer than I anticipated. The sites are a little close together, but there are nice trees and grass. Today, we have about a 4.5 hour drive to Colter Bay, WY at the park. It’s going to be a good day.
