Back in Oregon

Back in Oregon

The road-weary adventurers made it to Oregon yesterday and are on the way home today. The drive from Nevada to Sisters was interesting. The road was long and lonely, though the scenery was pretty. We saw a lot of wildlife, including a coyote right beside the road. What we didn’t see were any gas stations. We made it to Frenchglen on fumes, having slowed down our speed and turned off the AC to conserve fuel. There, we had one of the worse customer service experiences ever. She didn’t take credit cards, so we gave her our last cash and were able to scrounge up only $20. It was 35 miles to the next gas station and we hoped we could make it.

We made it to Norris with gas to spare and the guy there was so nice and told us stories of he and his wife’s 12 year RV adventures. We made it to Sisters in just under 12 hours from when we started yesterday.

We stayed in the driveway of Mom and Dad’s place. We introduced Iris to the Casita and she slept in it with us last night. We still have to work on where exactly she will be sleeping because the middle of the floor doesn’t work too well. She cuddled up with us on the bed this morning and took a fair amount of room there too.

We had a great time sharing RV adventures with Mom and Dad and drinking Oregon beer again. We are glad to be almost done driving.

Critter count: coyote, ground squirrels, antelope, skinny cows that looked like donkeys, and a mouse that made it across the road
Beer me up Scotty: a nice Deschutes Red Chair and Mirror Pond – it’s good to be home
