It’s been a busy spring. Mike worked for five hours yesterday and then put in a full day today. Coign Studio is really taking off. Mike is constantly busy and is bringing in a healthy income. He’s is so excited and I’m proud of his achievements. As Mike said a little bit ago, it’s easy to put in long hours when you love what you’re doing.
It’s been a busy spring for me too. It looks like I’m going to trial in mid-May – smack dab in the middle of our vacation. I had our vacation planned months ago, but then I scheduled a trial right in the middle of the week that we were going to be climbing in Utah – the week after I run the Ogden marathon with Anna. It’s both good and bad news for me. Good because I love trials! Bad because it bumps our vacation up a week. Looks like I’ll start the marathon a little tired again. Good thing I just practiced.
Saturday was Rebuilding Together and it was a great year! We had great tasks and 12 people showed up. I was thrilled. We built in a paver-path in the homeowner’s back yard and Barry re-landscaped it for her. We also painted her bedroom and a wall in her living room and cleaned her carpet and hung blinds. The weather was perfect – just a little cool but warm enough for short-sleeves. It was a lot of fun even though I was sore and my feet hurt afterwards. Then, this morning I ran 22 miles. It was a good run. It took about 4 hours (my watch battery died part way through so I don’t know the exact time) and I felt mostly good throughout it.
I am glad today was my last long run for a little while. Hopefully, I’ll scale back to just 2 ½ hours after this marathon in Utah. I’ve had the weirdest experiences preparing for this marathon. For a while, running really became a chore. I think it was because I am really swamped at work this spring. Then, we went to Sisters and I went for an 18 mile run behind Mom and Dad’s house. The sun came out, which we hadn’t seen for a while, and I took off my shirt and ran in just my sports bra. I never do that! It felt sooo great! I was motivated afterwards. We’ll see what happens at the marathon on the 19th. I’m not setting my expectations too high. I’ll train smarter for Portland in October.
I spent a couple of nights at Tina and Brady’s house in Spokane last weekend because I had a mediation scheduled there. It was really wonderful to spend time with their family. The boys are adorable and I miss hanging out with Tina.
Pete Chamberlain just retired. He and Sylvia and traveling the U.S. in a Winnebago. I’m going to miss him, especially running with him. Mike and I went to Pete’s retirement dinner a couple weeks ago. Mike was not thrilled to go, but it was a really nice dinner.
Mike had an unfortunate experience last month. He had one wisdom tooth removed and then he got dry socket. He still has a little discomfort, but it has improved dramatically. Based on that experience, let’s hope he never has to have the other three removed. Yikes!
We’re having our lawn redone by a professional because it’s all weeds again and bumpier than when we started. They’re going to do it this week and we’re both really excited.
