Turning 30 & a trip to Spokane

Turning 30 & a trip to Spokane

A lot happened last week!  First, Mike survived the lay-offs at his company.  He is one of 4 people in the marketing department that kept their jobs.  What a relief to finally know!

I also turned the big 30 last week.  I had a great birthday!  Mike and I rented Finding Neverland and Mike made chili dogs.  It was perfect.  And I ate a lot of cake at work!  A lot of cake!  It was a full week of weakness for both of us.  I didn’t run at all, we didn’t work out and we didn’t climb but we did drink a lot of wine and eat a lot of greasy food.  We got it out of our system and now we’re dedicated to being healthy again.  Training for the marathon will begin in earnest tomorrow.

We also went to Spokane this weekend to take Jasper home.  Jasper loves his new house and large backyard.  He also loves his new family, particularly Misty.  It’s too bad Misty doesn’t love Jasper yet but I’m sure the two will become friends.  Of course, Mom and Jim are already head over heals for Jasper.  He’s just so cute.

Mike and I also were able to meet and have a beer with Hilary.  It was really great to see her again.  Mike was a good sport about meeting her, even though the turkey dinner we ate (and perhaps the beer we drank) went straight to his head and he was really tired that night.  This morning, we had breakfast with Tina and Brady and their family.  I really enjoyed meeting Koy.  He looks a lot like his older brother, Tate.  What a cute family!

Now, we’re ready for a healthy, somewhat restful yet productive week at home.
