Hi.

From Northern Yosemite to Bishop

From Northern Yosemite to Bishop

Change of plans.  Our initial plan was see the south part of Yosemite and then go to Kings Canyon.  Instead, we took Tioga Road that cuts through Yosemite west-east on the northern part of the park.  We are so glad we made the change because Tioga was the most beautiful part of our drive so far.  We saw amazing vistas, walls of rock and rock formations, a better view of Half Dome, a lovely lake, a beautiful meadow and more.

Iris seems to be feeling better and is definitely a little stir-crazy.  As we were by the lake, she let it be known she wanted to go for a walk and didn’t want to go back into the truck.  Hopefully, we’ll be able to take that walk soon - she’s still limping.

The drive along the eastern side of the Sierra Mountain range was also quite beautiful.

We had 3 nights free before our Calico Ghost Town reservation.  We had been dry-camping since Oregon and wanted to stay somewhere with electricity to fully charge everything and give the trailer and ourselves a good clean.  We found ourselves in Bishop, CA, which we briefly visited in 2006 when we went to Owens River Gorge.  (Wow - that was 16 years ago?)  In looking for a camping place, we accidentally missed a turn and found ourselves at a campground not on our radar but that was perfect for us - Brown’s Town Campground.

Because we decided to spend a few days in Bishop as there’s a lot to do here, we didn’t feel pressured to do “something” and, instead, spent  the day housecleaning and running errands.  We visited Napa to buy a new trailer battery (again- this is becoming a pattern on our roadtrips), had a great lunch at Mountain Rambler Brewing  (empanadas - yum), cleaned the trailer and ourselves, and took a nap.  It was a lovely day.
