East Lake
We have to schedule our camping trips. Several months ago, we made camping reservations for this weekend at East Lake near LaPine, Oregon. Last weekend, the weather was beautiful and hot. We had a great visit with mom and dad and the Rohrboughs in Sisters. Next weekend, the forecast looks beautiful. This weekend, it’s cold and rainy. Of course. But, we know how to camp in the rain, and we love spending time outside with Iris in the Casita.
The campground is a disappointment. It’s an RV campground with no privacy. Almost a parking lot with bare tree trunks dividing the sites. We should have dry-camped. We drove through that campground and it was beautiful. Oh, well. We’re spending much of our time in the Casita due to the weather anyway.
We took the Casita 4xing on the way here. We took a wrong turn but our map showed that it connected back to where we needed to be so we continued along the road. The road got progressively worse and degraded. At one point, a hill of dirt and tree branches completely blocked the way. Someone had made a rough trail around the hill, though the forest. We took it, which required Mike to put the truck in 4-wheel drive. Then, the end of the road made us drive through the forest again, along a slight embankment and then onto a driveway that connected with the main road. We were a little nervous but the Casita did great. I guess we’re still challenging what we can do with it.
