Rockin’ Boulder: Family
We just spent a great day with my family. Where they live is cute and cozy. The people there are super friendly and the kids and dogs have freedom to play in the courtyard. Mom’s apartment is cute and seems to be the perfect size for her. Sophia introduced me to her pets, the black widow spider and snake. I told her I was a wimp and didn’t want to hold the snake. It was crazy watching the snake slither over her and around her back.
We had a fantastic breakfast at a Creole restaurant, Lucile’s. After spending some time at mom’s place, we then tried to go to the zoo but it was the first nice day in a while and everyone decided to go to the zoo so it was packed. Sophia did entertain us in the car with her selection of Weild Al’ favorites and other quirky songs. It was a hoot. When we bailed on the zoo, we went to a brewery for lunch instead and then hung out at mom’s place and played King of Tokio. It is a really fun game. We were tired so we drove back to our campsite in Estes Park, had dinner at a great pub on the main road in Estes Park (the Wapati Colorado Pub) and then fell asleep to the sound of the howling wind. The mountains are really very beautiful in Estes Park.
Author’s Note: Don’t stay at Mary’s Lake Campground in Estes Park again if possible. Great views but I disagree with their rigid reservation policy.
