Hi.

This is the blog of Michael and Vicki Smith.

Established 2003.

We made it to Montana. Yeah!

We made it to Montana. Yeah!

After a fairly uninspiring night at Heyburn State Park in Idaho (the oldest state park in the NW, which was it’s draw because why not?), we drove to Flathead Lake today. Flathead Lake is beautiful, and we really like the campground (Wayfarer). Iris went for a short swim this evening and played with a stick in the water. Of course, she’s much braver when Mike is in the water with her. She has been very good and obedient on the trip, except when she was looking for Mike at the Flathead Brewery and decided to go inside the restaurant to find him.

The campgrounds are surprisingly full for weekdays, and we are a little anxious about finding a spot with the holiday weekend(s) coming up. Thank goodness for first-come, first-served—and that we are early risers. We’ll leave early tomorrow to find a good spot. We are looking forward to settling down at the next campsite in Glacier National Park, hopefully, and stay a few days.
