We just weren’t feeling Jasper. Maybe it was because we loved Banff so much, or maybe it was because we were antsy to get moving to Alaska, or maybe it was because the woman sneezed on Mike in Safeway when he was already tense. For any reason, we decided to move on this morning.
Tonight, we find ourselves in Dawson Creek, BC after a full day of traveling. From what we’ve seen, it’s a cute town, though not cute in a touristy town kind of way. It’s older and heavily reliant on gas mining. The people are nice and there is a “historic” feel to the town. We scored a full hook-up site for $25 with laundry facility (still to be seen) and decent wifi. It seems to be popular to stay here for a while, as it appears several RVs are here permanently. Frankly, the place is kinda crappy but the guy behind the desk was nice and we have everything we need and the price was a pleasant surprise. We are thinking of staying another night just to explore the area, clean the Casita, and do laundry. There’s a dinosaur fossil dig going on a little outside of town that I’d like to see, which is also at the same place as a hike to a reportedly “must see” waterfall.
We left Iris in the Casita while we went to dinner at a bar in the same parking area as the campground. The bar was fun, definitely a local place and only trucks parked outside of it. The waitress asked if we were from the States when we both declined her offer of gravy for Mike’s cheeseburger and fries and my BLT and fries. We think the gravy goes with the fries, but we aren’t really sure.
