It’s 7:45 am and we’re already on the road heading to Chena Lake.
Later…It was a pretty easy paddle, and we spent time enjoying the scenery, the quiet, and the many ducks. When we investigated screeching seagulls, we saw they were yelling at an eagle. We paddled almost directly under it. We looked at our Alaska Bird book and think it was an immature bald eagle. It was a big bird. When we got out of the boats, we were surprised at Iris’ insistence in going for a swim. We picnicked at the lake mostly to give her a chance to swim.
