Traffic delay

As we drove past Shasta, we saw a sign saying accident 86 miles ahead. We figured it would be cleared when we got there 1 1/2 hours later and the California DOT webpage showed clear traffic. We saw another sign about 45 miles out, checked the webpage and saw a yellow area indicating slow traffic. We thought we’d be fine. We passed the alternative route exit, because it was 10 minutes longer. As we got to within an hour of our destination, traffic stopped. We have been here 45 minutes and without really any wireless connection. Oops, guess we shouldn’t have tried to save 10 minutes. It’s a good thing we are on vacation and not in a real hurry.

Update: we started moving after sitting for about an hour.

Update: Ugh! It’s been 3 hours, 15 minutes and we are still not through traffic yet. A semi crashed on a bridge and blocked all southbound traffic. We were backed up 7 miles. And it is pouring rain, hard. Our patience is running thin.
