“I’m not kidnapping your dog.”

Mike saved a dog yesterday. It ran across Murray right in front of us when traffic was fairly busy. It was a cute little dog, about Iris size. The dog was chasing a bird. Mike pulled over and turned on our hazards. He got out and called to the dog, got its attention, and it crossed Murray again. It was a happy dog and came right to him. He picked up the pooch and opened the car door, because we were going to check its collar and call its owner, when he saw someone running up. He asked if it was her dog and then said he wasn’t kidnapping it. She was out of breath. Apparently, the dog must have bolted across a large field, chasing the bird. We didn’t see anyone initially, so the dog must have ran a long way. It was quite the event. Mike was a hero!
