We started Saturday with with a family 3-mile run. That was fun. We all napped for a couple hours- well, Iris and I rested while watching bad, old movies and Mike napped. That evening, we had dinner with Janis and her dog Gizmo. It was great to see her again.
Today, I ran and we worked in the morning. It’s a busy time for both of us at work. This afternoon, we had our kayak rescue class, where we learned to top our kayaks and how to recover and help each other. It was a lot of fun. There were only two couples and an instructor, so it was great hands on instruction. As always, I got beat up. I have a huge painful bruise on my ankle where I kicked the kayak- the bruise showed within minutes and Mike could see it under the water. Then, I banged up my left knee and then the other. My left elbow is bruised and scraped and my left is bruised forearm too. But I can roll a kayak (kinda), get in and out of one in the water, and help Mike get in his if necessary. Not that it’s likely to be necessary. As always, Mike was the athletic, star of the class. He picked up on the exercises super quickly. He can roll a canoe like no one’s business and he almost showed up the instructor in his quickness to self rescue and get back in his kayak using the Cowgirl self-rescue. He can do the Cowboy too, but it’s a more awkward move that makes no sense to do. We toasted our successes with dinner at The Rogue.
So we don’t forget, we went to the zoo last weekend with the Nedwickes. Vince is sure cute! The baby elephant, Lilly, was cute too. It is definitely spring because we saw a lot of flirting by the animals. We went to dinner at the restaurant at the top of Sylvan Hill, which has changed its name again so I can’t remember what it’s called now. That was fun too.
