A couple weeks ago, Mike and I were discussing how to get me motivated to run again. While happy with my last marathon, it is frustrating that I didn’t break 4 hours. I wasn’t sure another marathon was what I needed. We found the solution – a marathon in DisneyWorld. It occurs in January, so the timing was perfect. And I love Disney, so I’ll be excited for it. But, it’s not just the DisneyWorld marathon, I’m doing the Goofy Challenge. I will run a half-marathon on Saturday followed by the marathon on Sunday. It will be a true endurance test and not a speed test. Mike is completely supportive, and we already made our reservations and travel arrangements.
I am three weeks into my training. The difference this time from the last schedules is that I run both weekend days. I run about half my long run distance on Saturday followed by the long run on Sunday. So far, so good. Here’s to staying healthy and strong through the race.
I am amazed and so incredibly grateful how supportive Mike is. Not only do I train on both weekend days, including during our past vacation, but he agreed to fly to Florida for one of our vacations and go to DisneyWorld. He truly is the best husband ever!
