The Backyard

The Backyard

It’s clear that we don’t do much physical labor.  We worked on the yard just a couple hours each day this weekend, and we are completely wiped our early this afternoon.  But, we’re making baby steps in getting our yard looking nice again.  We decided not to rip out the entire lawn and we are going to attack the yard in pieces.  First, we’re dealing with the upper back yard, near the bedroom.  We’ve sprayed some Moss Be Gone, then we thatched the area and got a lot of the moss (and sod) up.  It was hard work.  Our next step is to spray some weed killer over the yard.  That should just about kill everything we have back there.  Then, we will lay some top soil and buy some grass seed.  Here’s hoping…

Of course, we had to go to Lowes/Home Depot a couple times this weekend.  We were week and made a big purchase.  We bought a wooden shed.  Just buying the shed took some work.  The shed comes in pieces, literally just 2x4s and other pieces of wood.  We had to unpackage the materials just to get them loaded into the truck.  As Mike said, it’ll take us a month to put the shed together.  It’s like a jigsaw puzzle.  I’m sure we’ll have fun with it.

On another note, last week we ordered me a new pair of climbing slippers – Anasazi Primas.  They came on Friday and I am so excited to try them.  We are too tired to climb today, so I’ll try them out tomorrow.

Mike got a new toy this weekend too.  Since we bought a Costco-size container of outdoor bug killer, he’s been at war with what we call the friendly-bugs.  I hate them because they land on us and get into the house.  The battle rages on as I type this blog.  At last report, he found the enemy bunker on the roof and has proceeded with Operation Kill Bugs.  I hope he’s successful.
