Kris and Connie Get Married
Yesterday, Kris and Connie Radice were married. But before we get there, we need to review the previous weekend because that was Kris’ bachellor party. Mike went to central Oregon, where he met Kris, Joel and Mike H. They stayed at a condo in SunRiver. On Friday night, they went to dinner at a strip club. Kris and Joel had really terrible hamburgers! Kris got a couple lap dances, but the bar was really busy and smoky. Afterwards, they returned to the condo and talked until 2:00am.
The next morning, Mike woke up early and got coffee for everyone. They didn’t wake up fast enough, so he drank one of the extra coffees. When everyone finally got ready, they went to Smith Rock. They hiked Misery Ridge and then climbed a 5.10a-ish route. Mike and Kris did it. Joel and Mike H. gave it a try – they made it part way. They completed the hike up Misery Ridge and looked at the Monkey. They went into Pleasure Palace where Mike and Kris climbed another route – maybe a 5.9. Mike H. only got a little ways up before he was too pumped to go further. Then, they hiked out the back of the Park. They had dinner at 7th Street Brewery in Redmond. Mike was the designated driver – good for him. They returned to SunRiver and went to the pool for a bit until the kids chased them out. They sat in the hot tub with some beer. They ended the evening with Dumb and Dumber. Everyone went home the following day. Mike had a good time that weekend and, more importantly, so did Kris.
Unfortunately, a serious fire near Sisters put a damper on the weekend. In fact, Mike spent some time with his parents on Friday, taking photographs of their belongings because the fire was only a few miles from their house. We were all concerned. Luckily, the firefighters showed their skills and took control of the fire and only a few neighborhoods were evacuated. Mom and Dad were close but they weren’t evacuated.
On Friday, Mike and I went to Eugene. We were late in reserving a hotel room, so we stayed in Best Western’s King Suite. Since we were paying for a nice room, we decided to take advantage of it and left work early on Friday. We hung out with Kris and Connie for a bit before practicing for the wedding. They were getting married on a gold course, and it was beautiful. Mike was the best man and I was the officiant, thanks to the Universal Life Church. Practice went well. The boys walked in to the Imperial March fromStar Wars. The girls walked in to a sweet song. After practice, Kris and Connie took us all to The Olive Garden for dinner. We had a good time.
The next day, Mike and I ran some errands and then Mike went to hang out with Kris. They played with Kris’ 3 cats for a while, then they saw a comedy with Will Ferrell. Joel, Chris and Connie’s brother joined them for the movie. Then the whole group went to BJ’s Pizza and Brewery for lunch, where Mike H. joined them. Afterwards, they got ready for the wedding. In the meantime, I went shopping a bit and went for a run. I didn’t start running until 2pm and it was really hot! I stopped after 6 miles (I had planned on 8 miles) because I had horrible thoughts of passing out from heat stroke and ruining Kris’s and Connie’s wedding. Mike and I met at the golf course.
The wedding was beautiful and went off without a serious hitch! I think Kris and Connie really enjoyed it. The reception was a lot of fun too. We had a great time and were thrilled to be a part of their wedding ceremony.
