2005 Christmas
On Monday, I went to Klamath Falls, but it took me two tries to get there. Portland had an ice-rain storm which caused a Max train to get stuck on the frozen rails on the east side of town. I ended up missing my early flight and catching a later flight. The rest of the business trip was uneventful. Mike worked the 3 days I was gone.
Christmas snuck up on us this year. We only worked a half day on Friday and then completed our Christmas preparations. We went to central Oregon to spend Christmas with Mom and Dad Smith. The Rohrbough family traveled to central Oregon for Christmas too. Since both Carter and Mike were going to be there, I made a cake for their birthdays.
We had a lot of fun at Christmas. Mike and I arrived late Saturday morning. We all went for a walk, and the Rohrbough family got into a snowball fight. (For future reference, Harrison is 4 and Ella is 2.) We ate a fabulous ham dinner, drank a lot and played a little poker! It was a great day. Christmas morning was even more fun! Being with Harrison and Ella brought Christmas with a child’s perspective. After opening gifts (for quite a while – there were a lot of gifts under the tree), we had a great breakfast. Then, Mike and Harrison alternated playing their DVDs on the TV. Popeye, rock climbing, Superman, Simpsons. The beer and wine flowed freely. We celebrated Mike and Carter’s birthday with gifts, cake and a piñata. It was a really great day! We are sooo glad that we were able to spend it with our family.
